Dear future volunteer,
I would say that for Gregor, December was a month of incubation and gathering inspiration. Searching for it, also and losing it. And then, finding it all over again.
Gregor looked for inspiration everywhere. In books, in the faces of passers-by. In random conversations. In old, abandoned buildings. But, he managed to catch it partially. He caught it by the tail, but not by the head.
The search for inspiration took him to Krško. There, he visited a group of volunteers who are volunteering at a cool film production organization. They met at the training last month, the one I’ve already written to you about.
Together, they began to conceptualize and work on a collaborative creative project. And, he created his first animation!
Slowly, his inspiration started to return.
Also, much of his time he spent at the OBRAT gallery. There, he met some brilliant artists who were creating during their month-long residency. That was a nice opportunity to observe the entire process of creation and exhibition setup, to help, learn, and be inspired by their work.
Besides that, he spent time with children at Pekarna, helping and learning new Slovenian words. This time, they said goodbye to December by making pancakes and getting ready for the season of growing their winter bellies!
In the meantime, the first snow arrived in Maribor. The squares were full. The smell of mulled wine. Everyone was cheering, saying goodbye to the old year, and hoping for a bright new one.
And Gregor tried to be present, letting himself stay in that fragile bubble.
