ESC blog

Journey continues

At the start of October I had an opportunity to participate in on-arrival training that was in Čatež. 5 days we spent over there felt like some kind of bubble full of positive energy, workshops and funny moments. We also had the opportunity to meet other volunteers that are part of the ESC program in Slovenia like me.

After training we came back to Maribor. Over there I am still exploring the city, meeting new people and volunteering at different events. One of those events was the exhibition in art gallery OBRAT made by highschoolers during covid time. We were also preparing space for art lecture held by art historian Simon Žlahtič in Pekarna Magdalenske mreže.

One of the most important things about my quality of life was to find someone to play basketball with and I found one court that is always full when it is sunny outside. So now you know where to find me. I also like to spend those sunny days outside eating one of the best ice creams i have ever tried and the best thing is that the ice cream store is located next to our gallery where i spent a lot of time.

Some of the other interesting things I saw in Maribor was aquarium and terrarium full of exotic animals. Some of them were cute, but some were really scary. Besides that I went to hill Piramida where you can see the whole Maribor and art gallery located in the city center.

I am still getting used to the city's energy and culture, but I am certainly getting more comfortable with it day by day.
